Duplicate items
Go to any monster nest, and loot everything in the nest except for one item. You can leave any item, but you must leave one item or this will not work. Turn the camera in a 360 degree circle or walk a short distance away from the nest, and then loot the nest again for all items to have respawned. Repeat this as many times as desired. Sell all the items you get from this exploit for lots of crowns. The game has a cap of 65,535 crowns. Thus, stay under that number to avoid losing any crowns. If you meditate for five days, the shops will get all their money (crowns) back. Alternately, go to the Loan Shark in Navigrad since his money comes back each time you leave. You can also buy florens so he has more money, and then just convert florens to crowns at the bank in Novigrad. Note: This glitch was performed on an unpatched version of the game. It will probably eventually get patched. To avoid not being able to use this exploit, either do not install new patches before using this exploit or delete the patches. You can avoid patches being installed by disconnecting from the internet until you are ready for the game to install new patches.
Infinite money
This glitch allows you to earn over 1,000 crowns per minute. You must buy shells from a merchant, dismantle them, and then sell the pearls for a higher price. First, go to the merchant at the following location at Hierarch Square in Novigrad. Buy all his shells and sea shells. Then, exit the shop, talk to the merchant again, and he will have all the shells in stock again. Buy as many as possible. Once you reach Velen, you can swim directly to Novigrad or take a boat to get there. Go to the armorer right next to the merchant, and dismantle the shells to get pearls. Sell the pearls to the armorer until he runs out of money. Next, meditate for five days, and the armorer will have roughly 1,000 coins again. Sell pearls to him again. Repeat this process as many times as desired. Alternately, go to the Loan Shark in Navigrad since his money comes back each time you leave. You can also buy florens so he has more money, and then just convert florens to crowns at the bank in Novigrad. Buying and dismantling a shell costs 8 coins. Selling the pearl you get from it gives you 109 coins, which is a 101 coins profit per shell. Note: The game stops saving your crowns if you go above 65,535 and will revert them to a previous state. Thus, do not go over this limit. If the merchant does not have shells in stock, either meditate or fast travel to another map, then check again. Additionally, make sure to do this during the day, as merchants and armorers are not around at night. This glitch will also probably eventually get patched. To avoid not being able to use this exploit, either do not install new patches before using this exploit or delete the patches. You can avoid patches being installed by disconnecting from the internet until you are ready for the game to install new patches.
Easy money
Note: This exploit was patched after Version 1.1. Before crossing the Woesong Bridge to leave the town of Midcopse in White Orchard early in the game, jump over the fence to enter a grass pasture with some cows at this location. Kill all the cows at that location with your sword or fire magic. Then, meditate for two hours where you killed them by pausing the game, selecting 'Meditation', and advancing the time by two hours. This will force two cows to respawn. Kill the cows again, and repeat the process to accumulate a large number of cow hides, as well as meat for healing. Once satisfied, go to the merchant directly across the road from the cow pasture. Talk to him, then select the 'Other' tab from his shop's inventory to find the 'Cow Hide' option to sell all of your hides to him. Repeat this process as many times as desired. Note: Since the nearby merchant only has a limited number of crowns, you will need to sell the cow hides to other shop keepers to get more crowns.
Easy XP
Go to the following location in 'Velen - No Man's Land', which is southwest of Novigrad. Go under the water (near the wrecked ships), and start shooting at the three Level 10 Drowners with your crossbow to one-hit kill them. After killing the three Drowners, simply turn the camera in a 360 degree circle, and they should keep respawning. They are guarding a nearby chest -- so do not open the chest or the Drowners will stop respawning. If you keep shooting your crossbow towards the Drowners, the game will simply auto-aim at them so you can easily kill them without much effort. You will also need to come up for air when you run out of breath. The Level 10 Drowners are worth 7 XP each. If you are Level 9, you can reach Level 11 in approximately 30 minutes using this farming method. Note: If the Drowners do not respawn, move around a little or turn the camera in the opposite direction to get them to respawn.
Infinite food
Go to the following location at the Clan Tordarroch Forge in The Skellige Isles, and kill all the goats. Next, meditate for one hour for the goats to respawn. If they do not reappear, meditate again for another hour. Kill all the goats again. Repeat this process as many times as desired. Then, loot all the goat corpses to get lots of goat milk, meat, and goat hide. Note: Goat hides are heavy.
Infinite run
While sprinting, jump immediately before your stamina is empty, then release [Sprint]. When you land, your stamina will be full or close to full. A second after you land, press [Sprint] again. If timed correctly, you will not lose your stride.
Extra storage
Use the following trick to store items that you do not want to carry in your inventory. Enter the Inn in Skellige, and go to a corner in the room. Drop all your items at once, and they will appear as a bag on the floor. You can return to retrieve them whenever desired. To add something else to the pile, pick up the bag, and then drop it again after it has the additional item.

Pulp Fiction reference
Successfully complete the 'Family Matters' quest, then enter the Bloody Baron's Castle. Go to the basement using the central staircase to encounter two guards having a conversation. Listen closely to hear them reenacting the 'Gimp' scene from Pulp Fiction.
Easy 'Assassin Of Kings' achievement
To take part in the assassination of King Radovid, you have to complete a series of lengthy side quests to trigger the 'Reason Of State' side quest at the very end of the game. During the 'Reason Of State' side quest, you will automatically assassinate King Radovid as part of the quest. If you miss one of the required side quests before going to the Isle Of Mists, you cannot trigger the 'Reason Of State' side quest any longer. If you make a wrong dialogue choice during the 'Blindingly Obvious' main story quest, you will also miss it. Make sure to always choose the first dialogue option at the end of this quest when talking to Dijkstra and Philippa. The necessary quests are all found in Novigrad. They are as follows:
1. Redania's Most Wanted
2. An Eye For An Eye
3. A Matter Of Life And Death
4. Now Or Never
5. A Deadly Plot
6. Blindingly Obvious [main quest] (always choose the first dialogue choice at end of quest when talking to Dijkstra and Philippa)
7. Reason Of State
Make sure to do these quests as soon as they become available. The exact requirements to trigger each of the side quests are shown in the video below.
Easy 'Bombardier' achievement
You can simply buy six bomb formulae from a herbalist to get the 'Bombardier' achievement. There is one located at the 'Herbalist's Hut' fast travel point south-east of Novigrad. He offers eight different bomb formulae. This will cost you approximately 2,000 crowns. However, you can simply create a backup save before doing this, then sell all your crafting materials/alchemy ingredients to the merchant, and buy the formulae with the money. Then, just reload your saved game to get the money back.
Easy 'Brawl Master' achievement
There are 14 fistfights that you must win to get the 'Brawl Master' achievement. After winning a fight, you will receive a fistfighting questline for that region. You can then track this side quest to see the next fight highlighted on the map. It does not matter which order you do the first three fights of each map, but the fourth fight (champion) is only unlocked after the other three fighters have been defeated. The fights get increasingly harder in each map. If you have too much trouble, lower the difficulty in the game options. The basic strategy for every fight is to counter (or dodge) an opponents attack, then use three quick strikes to hurt him. The fights will become available after completing the 'Bloody Baron' main story quest in Velen. Simply walk up to the Bookie to start fighting. If you lose a fight, you can replay it by talking to the Bookie again (or load last checkpoint). Unlocking the very last fight requires you to complete a side quest to get rid of a wraith that haunts the arena. Let the wraith defeat you in combat, and talk to the guards in the watchtower near the arena to unlock the last fight. If you die against the champion of champions, you need to reload the last save game to try again. The following are the locations of all 14 fights:
1. Velen (Inn at the Crossroads)
2. Velen (Lindenvale)
3. Velen (Blackbough)
4. Velen (Crow's Perch)
5. Novigrad (Hierarch Square)
6. Novigrad (Oxenfurt Gate)
7. Novigrad (Novigrad Docks)
8. Novigrad (Glory Gate)
9. Skellige (Kaer Trolde Harbor)
10. Skellige (Arinbjorn)
11. Skellige (Harviken)
12. Skellige (Urialla Harbor)
13. Skellige (Hov)
14. Skellige (Hov)
Easy 'Brawler' achievement
To fight Olaf, you must first complete the other three fistfights on The Skellige Isles. The first one is in Kaer Trolde Harbor (town in the north of the main island), the second is in Arinbjorn (far west on the main island), and the third is in Harviken (small island in the south-east of the map). The fight against Olaf then takes place on Urialla Harbor (small island in the north of the map). Go to the arena to begin the fight. Then, dodge Olaf's attacks (B), and throw 2-3 heavy punches at him before you dodge again. You will get the 'Brawler' achievement after finishing the dialogue after the fight.
Witcher 3 Money Early Game
Easy 'Butcher Of Blaviken' and 'Can't Touch This!' achievements
A great place to get the 'Butcher Of Blaviken' and 'Can't Touch This!' achievements are at the 'Hanged Man's Tree' fast travel point in Velen (middle of the map, where you enter Velen for the very first time). Near the fast travel point is a pack of Level 1 wolves. Block their attacks until they are all in front of you, then use the Igni sign to kill them instantly. While holding [Block], they cannot hurt you. If there are only a few wolves left, you can take them out with some quick attacks. Make sure to create a saved game before attempting this. If you fail, you can simply reload your saved game and try again. You can also make the wolves respawn by fast traveling to another map (away from Velen) and traveling back.
Easy 'Can't Touch This!' achievement
Find a group of underwater Nekkers, then use your crossbow to one-hit kill them.
After leveling high enough to inflict decent crossbow damage, go to the Devil's Pit in Velen. Run around and get at least five bandits from the camp to follow you, then return to the entrance. The enemies cannot get past the gate, and will line up at that boundary. Take out a crossbow, and auto attack them until all the bandits are killed. If something goes wrong, fast travel to another location, then return to respawn the bandits, and try again.
Easy 'Environmentally Unfriendly' achievement
The environment can be used in several ways to kill enemies:
Explosive Barrels: Ignite using the Igni sign or by attacking it. It will explode after a few seconds for a large amount of area of effect damage.
Insects (Hornet Nest): Can be destroyed to unleash hornets on nearby enemies.
Stack of Barrels: Topple over onto enemies using the Aard sign.
Swamp Gas: Ignite using the Igni sign.
Easy 'Even Odds' achievement
The first contract available is 'The Devil By The Well' in White Orchard, but may be difficult to complete without using oils and signs. Instead, consider doing this on the griffin in White Orchard. It is an easier fight, and will count as a contract even though it is required by the main questline. Another option is the werewolf at Velen during the 'Wild At Heart' side quest. Although the quest does not appear as a contract in the journal, it also counts towards the 'Even Odds' achievement.
Easy 'Fist Of The South Star' achievement
You can find a fistfight at the 'Inn At The Crossroads' fast travel point on the 'Velen' map. Go into the inn to find some men fighting in the corner, and talk to them to participate. When the fight starts, you must immediately hold [Block]. After blocking your opponent's strikes, use strong attacks (Y) to break his defense and knock him out.
Easy 'Friends With Benefits' achievement
To unlock the subplot involving Keira Metz, you must first complete the 'Hunting A Witch', 'Wandering In The Dark', and 'Magic Lamp!' main story quests. In those quests, you will go through a dungeon with Keira (unmissable). After completing this story questline, you will automatically receive the 'An Invitation From Keira Metz' side quest. Visit Keira in her hut in the woods of Velen to start the optional subplot. It consists of the following small side-quests:
The first thing up was planning. I used some old photos of the EXECUTOR from Episodes V & VI and some DVD screen captures of the clone trooper transports Episode II for reference and to keep the general shape of what a pre-EXECUTOR should look like. I wanted to keep it the traditional star destroyer shape but in the style between the third and fourth Star Wars films. I didn't go through any drafts.
One of the other reasons I decided on this type of Star Destroyer was I didn't want to build an EXECUTOR and then be raked over the coals by those anal model builders out there who would say “Well, it would be prefect but you didn't add the.00020 millimeter strip along the aft leading edge, like ILM did.” I wanted to keep this project FUNand that's what it's been. After I decided I was going to enter this contest, I grabbed an old sheet of coffee-stained poster board and drew up what came to mind at that time.
1. An Inivtation From Keira Metz
2. A Towerful Of Mice
3. A Favor For A Friend
4. For The Advancement Of Learning
Make sure to track the quests so you can see where to go next. Successfully complete these four quests to will receive the 'Friends With Beneifts' achievement. Note: It is highly recommended to send Keira to Kaer Morhen at the end and not kill her, as it is required for the 'Full Crew' achievement.
Easy 'Full Crew' achievement
The 'Full Crew' achievement is easily missable. There are seven allies that you must recruit to get the 'Full Crew' achievement. After completing the main quests in Kaer Morhen (towards the end of the story), you will get 'The Isle Of Mists' main mission and four new 'Brothers In Arms' quests. That is when you are supposed to recruit people for your upcoming battle in Kaer Morhen. You must play a series of lengthy side quests and subplots to recruit everyone, which takes several hours. Keira Metz and Triss can be recruited before reaching this point in the game and are the easiest to miss. You must recruit the following Allies:
1. Keira Metz: In Velen, send her to Kaer Morhen at the end of her subplot instead of killing her.
2. Triss Merigold: In Novigrad, complete her subplot. It starts with the 'A Matter Of Life And Death' side quest and ends with the 'Now Or Never' side quest. During the 'Now Or Never' side quest, you must choose that you want her to stay and that you love her during the dialogue at the harbor. She will then go to Kaer Morhen automatically after a cutscene.
3. Roche: In Novigrad, complete the 'An Eye For An Eye' side quest, then talk to Roche during the 'Brothers In Arms: Novigrad' main story mission for him to go to Kaer Morhen.
4. Ves: In Novigrad, complete the 'An Eye For An Eye' side quest, then talk to Roche during the 'Brothers In Arms: Novigrad' main story mission, and he will bring Ves with him to Kaer Morhen.
5. Zoltan Chivay: In Novigrad, simply talk to him during the 'Brothers In Arms: Novigrad' main story mission.
6. Ermion: In Skellige, simply talk to him during the 'Brothers In Arms: Skellige' main story mission.
7. Hjalmar: In Skellige, complete the subplot about choosing Skellige's ruler for the 'Kingmaker' achievement. Either Hjalmar or Cerys must become ruler of Skellige; it does not matter which one you help. Talk to them once they are ruler, and Hjalmar will come with you.
There are other characters you can talk to during the 'Brothers In Arms' side quests. Also, some can be recruited from side quests, but they are optional and do not have an impact on this achievement. It does not matter if they die or whether you talk to them or not. You can simply skip them altogether. Cerys an Craite is only important if she becomes ruler of Skellige, as you then must talk to her.
These characters are not needed:
Emperor Emhyr Var Emreis (Royal Palace of Vizima)
Letho (Velen)
Sigismund Dijkstra (Novigrad)
Folan (Skellige, during 'The Lord Of Undvik' side quest)
Vigi (Skellige, during 'The Lord Of Undvik' side quest)
Crach an Craite (Skellige)
Cerys an Craite (Skellige; if she becomes ruler of Skellige, you need to talk to her, and she will send Hjalmar to Kaer Morhen)
The following things can go wrong or are missable:
You could end up killing Keira Metz if you make a wrong dialogue choice at the end of her subplot.
Triss Merigold will sail away and never return if you do not tell her to stay and that you love her at the end of her subplot.
If you choose the third dialogue choice during the 'King's Gambit' side quest in the 'Kingmaker' subplot, you will walk away and neither Hjalmar or Cerys will become ruler. Then, Hjalmar cannot be recruited any longer.
You could ignore the 'Brothers In Arms' story quests entirely and go directly to the Isle Of Mists; thus, missing all possible allies.
Easy 'Humpty Dumpty' achievement
A great place to kill 10 opponents by knocking them off somewhere high with the Aard sign is the Bandit Camp at the 'Devil's Pit' fast travel point in Velen. There is a large Bandit Camp in this area. Lure some bandits to a ledge, preferably the one where you enter the camp. Block or counter their attacks to push them to the edge, then immediately use the Aard sign to knock them down the hill. Kill the enemies with two-handed weapons/axes with your sword, rather than the Aard sign. Their attacks cannot be countered and they do not usually fall off the ledge -- so they are only in your way. Once all enemies have been killed, fast travel to the Royal Palace on the 'Vizima' map, then return to Devil's Pit. All the bandits will have respawned, and you can repeat the process. You should be able to get 4 to 6 kills each time. Note: You do not have to buy any skill upgrades to do this.
Easy 'Kaer Morhen Trained' achievement
This works best against human city guards with swords. Archers also work well since they always carry a sword. Look for a single city guard, and counter 10 attacks in a row. You must press [Block] just before the enemy is about to hit you. Always press [Block] when the enemy has his sword vertically above his head (a fraction of a second after he starts swinging the sword and a fraction of a second before he hits you). Your timing must be precise, and it will probably take a few tries. A good place to do this is by the river, north of the 'Woesong Bridge' fast travel point on the 'White Orchard' map (first town you enter in the game). There is a friendly archer in this area. Attack him to start the fight. By doing this against a friendly guard, he will only knock you out and not kill you. So if you make a mistake, you will respawn right in front of the archer without any loading time and can keep trying.
Easy 'Kingmaker' achievement
To complete the subplot about choosing Skellige's ruler, you must first complete 'The King Is Dead - Long Live The King!' main story quest, which is the first main quest on The Skellige Isles. You will then automatically get two new side quests called 'Possession' and 'The Lord Of Undvik'. You can mark them in the side quests tab in your inventory. The subplot about Skellige's ruler consists of the following four side quests: 'Possession', 'The Lord Of Undvik', 'King's Gambit', and 'Coronation'. As soon as the 'Possession' and 'The Lord Of Undvik' side quests have been completed, you will automatically get the 'King's Gambit' side quest. In this quest, you have to choose whether to go with Cerys or Hjalmar during a dialogue. This will decide who becomes the ruler, and is extremely important for the 'Full Crew' achievement. If you do not help either of them, you will miss the 'Full Crew' achievement. Thus, be sure to help either Cerys or Hjalmar; it does not matter which one you help.
Easy 'Master Marksman' achievement
A kill may not always count as a head shot, even if you fire at the enemy point blank in the face. Humans, dwarfs, and elves count as valid targets. Killing drowners will not count. You can damage your target with other weapons, but the final blow that kills must be a headshot with a crossbow bolt. A successful headshot is indicated by the screen shaking at the moment of death, with yellow text on the left side confirming a critical hit was made. A good place to farm kills is at the Devil's Pit in Velen. Lure enemies to the gate. They will not move past the gate if you do not get too close. Then, begin shooting them in the head. To stop the enemy from moving around, use the Axii sign, then fire a free aim kill shot. After killing all the enemies, fast travel to another location, then return to respawn more enemies.
Easy 'Necromancer' achievement
At the end of Chapter 2 on Roche's path, Dethmold will send you into a kingslayer's mind to act out some of his memories. Save the game before starting the process. There are six segments that must be completed. Since you must be successful on your first attempt, reload the saved game if you fail and get kicked out of the memory.
Kill the harpies without dying.
For the traps on the ground, precisely follow Serrit's footsteps and path. Walk, and do not run.
When sneaking through the camp, you cannot be seen. Follow the person on the left, and remain out of sight until you can move past him and the tents.
When walking ahead, nothing special needs to be done.
Kill the soldiers without dying to get the 'Necromancer' achievement. There will be another fight that follows.
Easy 'Overkill' achievement
To easily get the 'Overkill' achievement, use Broadhead Bolts (bleeding), Devil's Puffball Bombs (poisoning), and Dancing Star Bombs (burning). The Broadhead Bolts are available at most blacksmiths and have a 100% bleeding chance (each shot will always make enemies bleed for 15 seconds). The Devil's Puffball creates a poison cloud; the enemy must be standing inside the cloud to receive poison damage. The Dancing Star Bomb inflicts burning damage and has a much higher chance of burning enemies than Igni (but it is possible with Igni). The two bomb formulae can be bought at the Herbalist's Hut in Novigrad. Once you have all these items, go to the Devil's Pit Bandit Camp in Velen. Make sure to set the difficulty to 'Death March' or the enemies will die too quickly. Start by shooting the Broadhead Bolt, followed by the Devil's Puffball, and then the Dancing Star Bomb. Stay very close to enemies so they cannot run away from the poison cloud. The three effects must be active on one enemy at the same time. Repeat this with ten enemies to get the achievement. You can meditate to replenish your bombs. Fast travel to another map to make the bandits respawn. Note: You can also do this against most other human enemies, animals, and several monster types. Some enemies are resistant to some of the three required effects -- so it will not work on all enemies. It works best on bandits, bears, wolves, cyclopes, and anything else without armor.
Easy 'Power Overwhelming' achievement
Places Of Power are glowing ritual stones hidden in the woods of the 'White Orchard' map (where the game starts). They are marked with question marks on the map until you have discovered them. Activating a Place Of Power will earn you a skill point and give you a significant boost for one of your signs. Each Place Of Power corresponds to one of your signs (Axii, Yrden, Quen, Igni, and Aard). After activating the stone, an icon will appear at the top of the screen indicating the remaining time for that particular bonus effect. They stay activated for 30 minutes. You must have all five Places Of Power activated simultaneously to get the 'Power Overwhelming' achievement. Search the White Orchard area to find the five different stones, then use your horse or fast travel to activate all of them before the previous ones expire. Note: There are two 'Quen' Places Of Power at this location; make sure you do not use the 'Quen' stone twice.
Easy 'Shrieker' achievement
The Shrieker contract starts at the quest board in Crow's Perch ('Velen' map). Make sure you are tracking the quest to see where you must go. Talk to the man down by the village, and accept his offer. Ask the child behind the house about the Shriker, and go to the target area. Investigate the site to find some blood trails. Follow the blood, go into the cave, and throw a bomb at the Shrieker's nest to lure it out. Then, kill the Shirker outside the cave, and return to the man in the village to collect your reward and get the 'Shrieker' achievement.
Easy 'That Is The Evilest Thing' achievement
Obtain the formula to craft bombs from The Herbalist's Hut Signpost to the north-east of Oxenfurt. It sells the required ingredients. Once it has been crafted, find an enemy or group of enemies and cast Igni. After it begins to burn them, throw a Dragon's Dream Bomb at the enemy. This will ignite the gas from the bomb and cause an explosion. Repeat this process as many times as needed to get the 'That Is The Evilest Thing' achievement.
Easy 'The Enemy Of My Enemy' achievement
For the Axii sign to turn an opponent against another, the Tier 2 Axii 'Puppet' skill is required. The first level will temporarily turn a target into an ally and give them a 60% damage boost, which can be upgraded two more times to 60%. Find a group of enemies, and weaken all but the strongest one. Then, use Axii on that strong enemy.
Easy 'Triple Threat' achievement
You can easily kill three opponents in one fight using three different methods at the 'Hanged Man's Tree' fast travel point in Velen (middle of the map, where you enter Velen for the very first time). By the time you enter Velen, you will automatically have a crossbow in your inventory. Equip the crossbow and Igni sign. Then, kill some wolves near the fast travel point with the Igni sign, use your sword until only one is left, then kill the last one with your crossbow to get the 'Triple Threat' achievement.
Easy 'What Was That?' achievement
First, craft a bomb with alchemy. The necessary ingredients can be bought from herbalists (there is one in the middle of White Orchard). Put the bomb in your inventory, and look for an enemy. Make sure it is not a weak enemy, as you may one-hit kill it. Start with the counter attack, followed by a quick attack, throw the bomb, and cast the sign at the end to get the 'What Was That?' achievement. Note: Do not forget to select the bomb in your weapon wheel before the fight.

Making Money Early Game Witcher 3
So you’ve decided to play The Witcher 3 how it was intended, by playing on the Death March difficulty level. Congratulations, you are a brave soul. Don’t worry though, you will be rewarded for your bravery and if you haven’t yet built the courage to do so, I encourage all of you to give Death March a go. See, The Witcher 3 has a very intricate combat, enemy, crafting and alchemy system, which you will only really appreciate and experience fully when you play on Death March.
Here for the Death March Build? Click Here
Consider this before starting on Death March
Playing on Death March is only for those who want to take their time and enjoy the world and what it has to offer. The mindset of rushing through the game is quite common, one that I myself had early on, until I began to realise how amazing the game was and also because I was struggling with the main quests and the first werewolf encounter (Sword and Story). I started again with the knowledge of the locations of a few early game greens and relics and played with a completely new mindset. The days of hacking and slashing were over, I was to learn what it truly meant to be a Witcher.
1. Your First 10 Levels Will Be the Hardest
It’s important to note this, because as you advance you’ll find that the game becomes easier. And that is how it should be. By level 10 you will be familiar with most of the enemies, know the combat system well, alchemy will have become your friend and you’ll have the gear of your choice.
2. Save After Each Fight
Making a habit of saving after each fight will help reduce the frustrations of dying in combat and help you keep your momentum. Early on, I found myself having to re-fight sets of enemies again which was quite demotivating.
3. Quen & Axii Are Life Savers, Literally!
You always go into combat with your Quen shield up because it literally saves your life and gives you that extra amount of time and resources to take down the most difficult of opponents. Keep in mind that I used a light-armor build and relied on high mobility and dodging to play the game. Axii was my second most used skill, especially early on when taking on large packs of human or humanoid foes. Single them out and use Axii and kill them in one or two blows.
4. Do The Devil by the Well Contract ASAP
This contact will not only give you a good idea as to how to take on difficult and conditional enemies (by using the bestiary and preparing for fights in advance) it will also give you a trophy that will increase amount of experience you earn from killing foes. 5% extra experience earned from human and non-human foes.
5. Avoid Large Wolf Packs
Early on these animals are very difficult to defeat especially when they are in large packs. Agile and great in numbers, they will quickly overwhelm you and have you repeatedly pressing the reload button. So unless you have to, in the first 2-3 levels run away from them.
6. Get The Viper School Sword Set ASAP
The Serpentine Steel & Silver swords will drastically improved your gameplay in those levels, the jump in damage is huge and you’ll love fighting your foe. In fact, they are so OP that you’ll lose interest in the combat if you have them on any other difficulty. So this is a must! The Silver Sword is level 1 whilst the Steel level 2. Besides the huge jump in DPS they give you a total of 25% more experience earned from human and non-human foes.
7. Complete All of White Orchard
This allows you to maximise your exp gain in the early stages of the game. But more importantly, White Orchard contains six Places of Power. That means six extra skill points that will hugely impact your early game experience before you hit level 3.
8. Loot Everything, Even Herbs
That’s right, loot everything that you can. Money is very hard to come by early on and you’ll need as much of it as you can. Also this method helps you to gain the crafting materials to create your needed weapons and alchemy recipes.
9. Sell Loot To the Appropriate Vendors
You might not have thought about this or perhaps you don’t care enough but if you want to have a decent cash flow, you’ll need to sell the appropriate loot to their appropriate vendors. The herbalist on the road will not give you much for your swords and the blacksmith isn’t dying for your wild herbs.
10. Get The Temerian Set
The Temerian Level 4 set is perfect for the lower levels, though it is expensive. That’s probably why I put it after loot everything and sell for maximised profits! It’s light and perfect if you are going for a high mobility build.
11. Swallow Tonic Is Your Main Heal
So you can no longer meditate for an hour and have full health, which makes sense. So your only sources of health regeneration will be Swallow and food. You’ll either have the recipe right from the beginning or will come across it very early on. Use it efficiently since you only have 4 on you at a time.
12. Be Patient and Strategic In Combat
Basically take every fight seriously, a group of low level humanoids can still take you down if you are careless. The combat at this level is much like Darksouls, anything can kill you. Learn when to roll, dodge and parry. It’s all about timing and once you get the hang of it, you will be able to take on foes higher level than yourself.
13. Learning To Side-Step
The side step mechanism is the key to quick and efficient combat. If done correctly it not only helps you to dodge your foe, but provides you with enough momentum to strike them shortly after. Enemies are weakest being attacked from behind and sides.
14. Familiarise Yourself With The Bestiaries Section
Read through the bestiary section often as it updates. You’ll find new and interesting insights about your enemies that will not only ease the monster slaying part but will also increase your appreciation of the game and it’s lore.
15. Understand That Each Enemy Needs To Be Fought Differently
If you’ve followed the last suggestion then you’d also know that each enemy needs to be fought differently. A great example will the Wraith family, each has their own strengths and weaknesses and if you don’t know it prior to the fight you are going to have a hard time.
16. Start Reading Books!
Investing some of your extra cash flow into purchasing unread books is an excellent idea. It will provide you with updates on foes that you are yet to meet and alchemical formulas that will come in handy in the future.
17. Get Good at Alchemy
Swallow isn’t the only useful alchemical formula, there are ones that increase your vitality, attack power and the most useful to the witcher are the foe specific oils that increase your damage to a particular enemy type by 10%+.
18. Make All The Recipes You Can and Learn to Use Them
The great thing about the alchemy system is that once you make it, you won’t need to make it again. So as you acquire new formulas spend a little time making each one and figuring out how you can incorporate these in your play style.
19. Do All Witcher Contracts
The Witcher contracts are not only an opportunity for you to gain some solid exp and coin. They have great little side stories to them and so far one of my favorite parts of the game. Getting to exploring unknown areas, facing dark and formidable enemies while experiencing unique stories and plots is the best part of the Witcher world. Oh and don’t forget to negotiate your fees, your work is highly risky.
20. Get Griffin Weapon Set at Level 11
Get the Griffin weapon set even if you aren’t planning to use the armor. You’ll get to keep that DPS and experience bonus that the previous set provided.
The Witcher 3 – Death March Build
Combat Alchemy Hybrid Build
A working and practical build that can always be improve on. The goal is to maximise agility and out maneuver your foes. Don’t forget you are playing Witcher 3 on Death March, it’s suppose to be challenging and fun.
The first skill point was used on Survival Instinct to increased HP by 500.
Attack power increase was the focus in the early levels through investment in Cat School Techniques & Focus.
Main focus was on the Combat tree
Minor focus on Sign tree through Delusion & Active Shield
Middle to end game focus was on Alchemy tree, read the Skills Guide.
General Combat Build Tactics
Combat Cycle: Sidestep/Dodge/Parry then Sign/Quick Attack (rely on freeze, paralyze and stun effects) and finish with Heavy Attacks
With more difficult enemies it doesn’t hurt to be purely defensive until you’ve understood their behavioural patterns
All in all, create space through defensive tactics and be an opportunistic striker who attacks from behind and sides
Advanced – The Dancing Serpant: circle around your foes using sidestep, combine with quick attacks from sides and behind. Very few will withstand your sting. Best used in one on one situations.
You’ll soon be breezing through Death March
